| Hybrid Couplings | |
Both
synchronous motor and variable frequency motor trains apply
high vibratory torque loads to drive them when they
synchronize at start-up or experience due to resonant
frequency interference at certain operating speeds,
respectively. To
combat these loads, the equipment can be increased in size
or dampened to reduce the magnitude of these loads.

KOP-FLEX®
offers both solutions large size couplings as
well as MAX-C® WB type torsionally resilient damping
couplings. MAX-C couplings provide dampening with high
dampening SBR rubber blocks loaded in compression with WB
wedge shaped blocks.
A MAX-C resilient coupling, coupled with high performance disc or diaphragm or gear coupling, provides an economical high speed coupling combination. MAX-C is used on one end and one of the three different types of high performance couplings on the other end joined together with a spacer. Advantages of hybrid couplings are:
