Odyssey™

Odyssey™
Features
  • Designed based on survey of users and OEMs needs
  • First elastomer coupling designed using finite element anaylsis (FEA)
    • Most optimized design available on the market
  • Innovative design with two patents
  • Torque range up to 14 HP / 100 RPM
  • Bore capacity up to 6.75" (170 mm)

Industries
  • Pump
  • Petrochemical
  • Pulp & paper
  • Food & beverage
  • Water treatment facilities
  • Power plants

Applications
  • Pumps
  • Motors
  • Compressors
  • Gearbox

Safety
  • In the event of an unexpected element failure, the center tube is captured by the steel adapter (pilot) rings, reducing the likelihood of the coupling failure.
    • Unlike competitive couplings, like Omega* or Sureflex*, that can flail and damage equipment.
  • Note: Always recommend use of coupling guard as required by OSHA

Ease of Installation and Maintenance
  • Only four major components: hubs, center assembly, and bolts
  • No need to move the equipment to install the center assembly
    • Easy field replacement
  • Unique, high-strength, and self-locking flange bolts that cannot be over-tightened under normal conditions
    • Special serrations under bolt head also prevent loosening when properly tightened.

Reduced Life Cycle Cost
  • Low cost of installation, operation, and post operation support and maintenance.
    • Lowest cost in the industry - see Odyssey catalog (KO-04) for comparative data.
  • Odyssey offers 3 year warranty
  • Dual diaphragm design produces much lower reactionary loads on pumps and motor bearings.
    • Results in longer life of bearings and seals and less downtime.
  • Light weight, designed to meet AGMA Class8-10 balance
    • Inherently qualifies for API610 pump specifications for balance.
    • None of the competitive designs offer this - competitors meet AGMA class 7 or 8 at the best.
    • Better balance means lower loads on bearings and less vibration.

Notes:
(1) For single flex designs, the reaction force at the bearing is higher when the flex element is at one end of the coupling versus the center.
